When God and his People Sing!

Before we are told this wonderful news: “The Lord your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing” (Zephaniah 3:17), we are given this wonderful invitation: “Sing aloud, O daughter of Zion; shout, O Israel! Rejoice and exult with all your heart, O daughter of Jerusalem!” (Zephaniah 3:14).

This means that God is in the midst of this people who are singing aloud, shouting out their joy, rejoicing in their God, and exulting in him with all their hearts. At the very same time, rising above the sound of the church’s fully synchronized unison and harmony, is the amazing sound of our God’s melodic voice rejoicing over these people he has saved as they rejoice under his wing for saving them.

There is the overseeing love quieting their broken hearts of all their griefs, and all that caused them to mourn, so that their songs of rejoicing rise up in the fragrant incense burning before the throne of God, bringing the pleasures of God in his people, and the pleasures of this people in their God, into one grand fragrance and aroma that pleases them all to even more overwhelming songs of joy.

And, there is this wonderful and wonder-filled sound of God exulting over this people with loud singing even as they are exulting under this God who has filled their hearts with the fullness of his joy that has made their joy full in him.

Sing aloud, shout, rejoice, and exult. God is present, saving, rejoicing, quieting, and exulting. There is no match to the music of God and his people. Make this your daily playlist!

From my heart,
