Home Church Video ~ "Working Out For Complete Joy"

Our home church began the new year by working together on a 31 day adventure. This is simply a focused way of spending time in the word, watching for what God is teaching us, sharing it with each other so we can see how to apply these things to our church, and helping each other join God in whatever work we see him doing. As usual, it is both very challenging, and very uplifting.

At the 19 day mark, I look back at the time we have spent on this journey, and see how one verse has taken center stage to all the others. It is written:

"Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure" (Philippians 2:12-13).

After processing what this verse means in terms of us working out what God is working in, I have been going through the book of Philippians to see the things we should expect God to be working into our lives based on what he has already revealed. I have shared some of these things in my blog already, but this is the first video I have recorded of what I have been sharing with our church.

In this message, we tried to understand one particular passage in light of our responsibility to work these things out with fear and trembling because God is working in us for the things he wants us to will and work for his good pleasure. It reads:

"Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others" (Philippians 2:1-2).

Join us in exploring this Scripture with a Sunday morning sermon, home church style.
