Considerations ~ Father's Prescription for Joy

Here is our Heavenly Father’s prescription for the fullness of joy in his children:

First, there is the fact that, in God’s presence there is fullness of joy, and at his right hand are pleasures forevermore (Psalm 16:11).

Second, God has spoken to us in his word, and sent Jesus as his Word to speak to us in person, so that their joy would be in us, and our joy would be full to overflowing (John 15:11).

Third, the apostles were given to the church by Jesus Christ (Ephesians 4:11), becoming the foundation-rock on which the church was to be built (Ephesians 2:19-22; Matthew 16:18) and they taught us how to complete our joy (Philippians 2:1-2; I John 1:4).

Fourth, we are taught how to work out our salvation with fear and trembling because this is our participation in the activities that complete the joy of the whole church (Philippians 2:12).

Fifth, our work is a response to all the things God is working in us to will for our joy, and to work for our joy, according to his own good pleasures that surround him forevermore (Philippians 2:13).

Conclusion: when we join God in whatever he is already doing in us, it leads us into the things that his word has told us will complete the joy of the church, the body of Christ.
