Bible Study ~ God's Provision for Our Complete Joy

God’s Provision for Our Complete Joy
(I John 1:1-4)

As an exercise in meditating on the word of God, consider this passage of God’s book with the thought of how each phrase is significant to your understanding and belief in Jesus Christ. The apostle John is writing of his personal experience of knowing Jesus in the flesh, watching his life, hearing his words, witnessing his death, burial, resurrection, and ascension into heaven, and he continues to communicate to every generation how this is the most important thing for us to know, to receive, to believe, and to live.
With that in mind, think about how each of these phrases is significant to your beliefs and decisions in relation to the God revealed in the Bible.

1 That which was from the beginning,

Significance: _____________________________________________________
________________________________________________________________

which we have heard,

Significance: _____________________________________________________
________________________________________________________________

which we have seen with our eyes,

Significance: _____________________________________________________
________________________________________________________________

which we looked upon and have touched with our hands,

Significance: _____________________________________________________
________________________________________________________________

concerning the word of life—

Significance: _____________________________________________________
________________________________________________________________

2 the life was made manifest,

Significance: _____________________________________________________
________________________________________________________________

and we have seen it,

Significance: _____________________________________________________
________________________________________________________________

and testify to it and proclaim to you the eternal life,

Significance: _____________________________________________________
________________________________________________________________

which was with the Father and was made manifest to us—

Significance: _____________________________________________________
________________________________________________________________

3 that which we have seen and heard we proclaim also to you,

Significance: _____________________________________________________
________________________________________________________________

so that you too may have fellowship with us;

Significance: _____________________________________________________
________________________________________________________________

and indeed our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son Jesus Christ.

Significance: _____________________________________________________
________________________________________________________________

4 And we are writing these things so that our joy may be complete.

Significance: _____________________________________________________
