The Real Story of Us
The
upcoming documentary series, “Mankind: The Story of All of Us,” claims to be
history. However, the commercials and write-ups for this documentary already
tell us that this will not be a true story of mankind for the simple reason
that it begins with the fictitious impossibility of the “Big Bang”. It then
uses the prejudicial opinions of the evolutionary religion to tell us that we
developed in ways that are entirely contrary to the facts.
In
advance of watching any part of this series, I already know that the producers
will present unmeasurable things from the past as though they are facts, will
mix in the opinions of scientists as though they are the objective measurements
of science, and will present computer generated animation as though it were an
accurate portrayal of things they don’t actually know.
If
anyone wants to know the true “story of all of us”, we simply need to open the
Bible and read God’s own description of how he created mankind[1], how mankind messed up what God had made so wonderfully good[2], and how Jesus became a man to redeem men from the corruption of
mankind’s sin[3].
Mankind’s
story does not include any kind of evolutionary beginning, continuing or ending;
but the one who is the beginning and the end, the alpha and the omega[4], the first and the last[5], created us for his plans and purposes. We are not under the spell
of the survival of the fittest; but God’s blessing rules the lives of the poor
in spirit and gives them entrance into his kingdom[6].
At
the present time I am entering into a journey through the book of Revelation. It
is the beautiful climax to the record of mankind’s story. After 65 books of the
Bible tell us the accurate history of mankind, and God’s work to save us from
ourselves and our sin, the final book of the Bible tells God’s children “the things that must soon take place” [7].
In
other words, not only does the Bible tell us the story of all of us from the
perspective of the past, it also tells us how the story will end. This is what Jesus
promises will happen: “Behold, I am coming soon, bringing
my recompense with me, to repay each one for what he has done. I am
the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end”[8].
The
bottom line is that Jesus created mankind[9]. He knows the story’s beginning, present, and ending. No matter how
much money a TV network will spend to present a fictional story, the real story
is what Jesus spent to redeem people from life in the hopelessness of
sin-cursed humanity[10]. As Jesus created the first man, Adam[11], so he has created “one new man”[12] that is daily being transformed into the very image and likeness of
Christ[13], just as he intended from the beginning of time[14]. We cannot help that the first Adam brought sin into our world[15]; but we can receive the gift of the last Adam, Jesus Christ[16], who saves us out of the world and into his kingdom[17].
