Home Church Video ~ Seeking First What Helps the Rest

Jesus told us that a chief characteristic of his people would be that we “seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness.”[1]

When we receive Jesus Christ by faith, it means that God, “has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.”[2]

Clearly, if we are no longer in the domain of darkness, but are now in the kingdom of our Lord Jesus Christ, it would be this kingdom that is uppermost on our minds.

The “first” here is not some kind of priority in which we fulfill a need to seek God’s kingdom and righteousness and, once we have put in our quota for the day, we can then seek anything else we like.

Rather, it is a matter of putting above everything else the issues of the kingdom and righteousness of God. Anything we face, and any responsibilities we carry, are addressed with hearts and minds focused on the King and his kingdom.

In this home church video, we consider what it means to seek first the kingdom and righteousness of God, including some practical considerations of how to recognize when we are or are not doing so.
