As a simple aid in meditating on God’s word, simply copy this
into your word processor, and give some time to meditate on each phrase until
you feel that it has entered your heart. Either prayer-journal your way through
each thought, or add in your conclusions after some prayerful meditation.
As you begin, be honest with God about where you are starting
from, and ask him to guide you by his Spirit to know and understand him as you
seek to know and understand his word.
For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” has shone in our
hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of
Jesus Christ. (II Corinthians 4:6)
“For God…”
“who said,”
“’Let light shine
out of darkness,’”
“has shone…”
“in our hearts…”
“to give…”
“the light…”
“of the knowledge…”
“of the glory…”
“of God…”
“in the face…”
“of Jesus Christ.”
Conclusion:
1. What stands out
most about what God is showing you about yourself?
2. What stands out
most about what God is showing you about himself?
3. Based on
Philippians 2:12-13, “Therefore, my
beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much
more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling, for it
is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure,”
A. How would you describe what God is working in
you both to will and to work for his good pleasure?
B. How would you work out this aspect of your
salvation with a fear and trembling response to your heavenly Father?
